green-colored sunshine shining though soft leaves, all the green days in the growth rings’ telling legend to the future and the past. these green hopes in the olympic rings are just like warm hugs and brilliant haloes under the blue sky of beijing. as the 29th olympic game which is held in beijing is coming up soon, every citizen in our city is a messenger of green olympic, we love our city and care more and more about our environment. in those lovely smiling face, i’m touched deeply for all the efforts we make. i can see the grassland is greener; the blue sky is beautiful and clean, and every little tree is growing happily in warm and gentle breeze. this is my hometown, this is beautiful beijing, and there place the green olympic hopes on.
thinking about a few years ago, when i saw the taxonomic dustbin in our community for the first time, the green olympic made no difference in my mind. i just regarded it as an interesting way to sort garbage. but when a few days later i raised my hands high up and was eager to be a member of "the communist youth league’s epd group", i told myself firmly, "it’s a great way to make contribution to the 2008’s beijing." maybe this is why i have that much passion on this great action. in the following months, we have activities such as picking up all the plastic things which are surrounded our school together with our teacher. we were all very excited about this meaningful thing. we also set up special dustbins for used batteries, so that we can both pollute less and recycle more. when seeing all the plastics and the batteries were carried on the truck which was going to the recycle factory to handle these things, we were all very happy about it. everyone forgot all the hardness. to let the dream of" green beijing" come true, all of us should give a hand. "i’ve do something great for you beijing," what a great sentence!
and at the same time, the actions of protecting the environment are going on, too. my father changed all the taps in my family into saving-water ones, and all the water we use are recycled for at least 2 or 3 times. i always can hear this ad on cri, it says, "5 million children died each year, just for the drinking water." so, help us to make the world safer. although my actions are rather small, but i think with all of you guys help, there will be a strong power.
the color green gives the olympic game a deeper meaning, green is in flowers, grasslands and in trees; green is in the sky, in the earth and in the sunshine. but to my opinion, green’s also in our minds, in our smiles and in the great love.
once in an activity which was to plant trees for the community, every planter got a card to hang out on the tree with writing a few meaningful words. do you know i have written what? that is:
"happy growing!"
"happy growing!" to every little tree in our green dreams.
"happy growing!" to the changing beijing!
"happy growing!" to the green olympics bud in every citizen’s heart! it’ll turn out sweet 3 years later in 2008!
灿烂未来 绿色希望
清晨绿色的阳光透过温柔的叶子洒向大地，年轮中曾经青涩的时光向未来讲述着美丽的传说，奥运五环中的绿色像温暖的拥抱明亮的光环笼罩在北京蔚蓝的天空下。随着第29届奥运会的临近，我们北京的每一个市民都像是绿色奥运使者一样，越来越热爱我们的北京，越来越关心周围的环境。我们因自己是北京人，可以向每一个外国友人展示北京的风采而感到骄傲。而这样一次又一次的感动中，我看到草地更绿了，蓝天清澈了，一棵棵的小树苗在温柔的微风中茁壮成长。这是我的家，这是美丽的北京，这里寄托这绿色的奥运希望。
回想几年以前，我第一次在社区的路旁看到分类垃圾箱的时候，绿色奥运在我的大脑中还没有任何概念，只是觉得这样把垃圾分类是很新鲜的事。但是当我在不久后的班会上把手高高的举起来希望自己也可以加入"共青团epd社团"的时候，心里已经坚信，"用自己的力量为2008年的北京做出贡献，这真是太伟大"了。也许这就是我和绿色奥运行动最开始的结缘吧。在随后的几个月中，校团委带领包括我们支*在内的20余名同学一起到学校周边的路旁捡拾白色垃圾，这对于我们来说是一次意义重大的活动。我们还在学校门口设立了回收旧电池的垃圾筒，来尽可能减少环境的污染并同时节约资源。当看到一袋袋白色垃圾和旧电池被搬到送往回收站的卡车上时，我们忘记了之前的一切辛苦，因为汗水换来了快乐，和，付出的喜悦。绿色北京的实现需要我们每一个人去努力，"绿色奥运，有我一个"，多么骄傲的一句话啊。
同时，环境保护的行动在我家也在进行着。爸爸把家里所有的水龙头都换成了节水型的水龙头，而且所有的生活用水都至少被循环了两到三次。我经常会在中国国际广播电台听到这样的一则公益广告："每年因缺水而死亡的儿童有500万之多"，身为同样生活在地球上的人类，我想我的行动虽然是微不足道的，但是如果大家都投身于节约用水和绿色环保的行动中来，那么我们的力量将是不可估量的。
绿色为奥运会的举办赋予了更深广的含义，绿色是花，是草，是树；绿色是天，是地，是阳光；可是在我心里，绿色更是心，是笑，是爱。
在社区举办的每一次植树活动中，每个植树者都会自己制作一个小牌子并写上自己对未来的希望，在和爸爸妈妈一个上午的努力过后，我在牌子上写到：
"成长快乐！"
成长快乐！每一棵为了让我们环境更美丽的小树！
成长快乐！正在飞速变化着的绿色北京！
成长快乐！绿色奥运在市民心中的芽！他终将在3年后结出美丽的果实！

it′s said that the green olympics are a dream that can′t come true .look at the circumstance around us . no .i believe the circumstance can be created by ourselves .the dream of the green olympics will do come true by our efforts . the green olympics are not a dream any more .
有人说，绿色奥运是我们的梦想，不会成为现实。瞧我们周围的环境。不， 我相信，环境是我们大家共同营造的，经过我们的努力，梦想会成为现实，绿色奥运不是梦我们每个人都有许多美好的梦想，生活在环境优美的世界是我们共同的心愿。一九九三年九月二十三日，那是一个让全中国人遗憾、难忘的日子，北京申办2000年奥运会，因为环境问题以两票之差落选。从此通过我们的努力，我们改善了环境，我们终于成功的申办了2008年奥运会。奥运向我们走来，我们应该从一点一滴小事做起，创造美好环境，真正实现绿色奥运。朋友们，我们应该如何去实现我们的绿色奥运呢？
water is the source of life; electricity is the necessity of our living .each lawn can cheer up our heart and soul .every animal is a creature in the nature . are you sure that you save a drip of water in your daily life ? it is reported that the water resource per capita in beijing is less than 300 cube meters, representing one eighth of the per capita level of china and one thirtieth of the world per capita level. even worse, the underground water in some regions is absolutely undrinkable. water pollution and water shortage have hindered beijing's development seriously. the saying of "don't make the last drop water be human's own tear" is by no means a deliberately exaggeration so as to create a sensation. if i was an environment protection worker, i would enact the law of environment protect strictly and check the pollution with all my perseverance. if i was a sewage treatment engineer, i would develop the most advanced sewage treatment equipment in the world that can be used to filter all the sewage into clean water. a pot of water can be used three or four times in my family . first , i use the fresh water to wash rice and then use it to wash my face .it′s reported that it is a good way to beautify my face . at last ,i use this water which is a kind of good fertilization to irrigate flowers .as a student in dianye middle school,we not only protect the water but also research the vegetation around us. last summer holiday, with the teachers'help,we had a survey about the vegetation in shidu .we found fifty-eight species of plants were near extinction. it's a so large number! we reported it to the government and gave them three kinds of reasonable advices at once. are you sure that you turn off the light when it is unnecessary whether you are at school 、 at factory or at home ? when you want to spit in public places , do you think of the sars in 2003 ? when you walk in the park and see the colorful flowers , do you pick them off and arrogate to yourself ? when you walk through the school porch , do you draw everywhere ? when you walk into restaurants and see all kinds of creatures become so-called delicious dishes of human beings, does the dreadful scene make your heart and soul tremble? after all, they are all the living things just like our human beings! the comfortable environment around us needs to be created by every one of us!my friends , join us! devote yourself to the protection of our environment . try to make our sky bluer, our ground greener and our water cleaner. the 2008 green olympic will become reality. i'm sure we chinese will be proud of it ! in addition, this is the responsibility of every chinese .thank you ！

honorable referees, distinguished contestants, ladies and gentlemen, good morning. i feel it a great honor to have this opportunity sharing my opinion of the green olympics with you.
in august ,2004, as the delegate of chinese teenagers, i participated in the olympic youth camp. from it, i learnt and got a lot.
in athens, i was not only intoxicated on its long history and the deep humanity, but also impressed by the citizens' environmental awareness and shocked by the passion of the locals' for environmental protection.
with fewer metropolitan dins can be found in athens, the streets are neat indeed, for you will see no wastes on the road there. moreover, i seldom saw cleaners in athens, which impressed me very strongly. because what this phenomenon reflected is a kind of quality, character and also a sense of responsibility about the environment. which means, keeping the city clean is not only a governmental behavior, but a habit in the daily life of every athenian's.
i still remember the picture that, an old lady took great trouble to bent over for picking up a piece of newspaper and sent it into a dustbin. when i asked why she did such hard work with her age.: "why not? " she said, just so simple. up to now, this picture still clearly exists in my mind for its embodied environmental consciousness and a national spirit.
throughout the days in athens, there were a series of educational activities about environment. in those items, we were working in groups discussing environmental problems of different aspects and also seeking the solutions. in addition, the items consisted of speeches of officers' of local ngos and the children's paintings exhibition as well. at the end of the activity, having reached common understanding, each of us has submitted suggestions and measures dealing with the promotion of the implement of sustainable development. i have to say, this series of activities really benefited me a great deal.
therefore, i have thought of beijing, thought of the year2008.
"green olympics" is one of three major ideas of running the 2008 olympic games. the main intension of this creed is to prepare and host olympic games under the guidance of sustainable development. and at the same time, try hard to improve the environmental quality of the capital.
actualy in beijing today. the sandstorm is coming rare and rare, and the greenery area is keeping increasing year by year. no one can deny that these changes are the result of all the beijingers' efforts. it obviously states that through the application and the preparation for 2008, the beijingers' environmental awareness has been strengthened greatly. but as the case stands, we still have a long way to go.
as a middle school student of a new era, we should take part in environmental protection and the implement of sustainable development more widely and extensively. indeed, environmental protection should start from dribs and drabs, but it is not enough only to stay on the surface. we have to realize today's environmental problems more objectively and deeply .and we have to find out the obstruction and the danger we are facing. further more, only by considering the environmental problem as the point of sustainable development and globalization, shall we be able to arouse our consciousness and enthusiasm. i firmly believe that we will make the world a better place.
and now, i have a dream.
i have a dream that one day the earth will be free from contaminations；i have a dream that one day the nature and the human beings will coexist harmoniously and naturally; i have a dream that one day the blue sky and the verdure will always surround us; and i have a dream that one day the green will become eternity.
so, friends, let us join our hands and work together, meet in a green beijing, meet in 2008.
绿色北京 绿色奥运
尊敬的评委，各位选手，女士们，先生们，大家早上好。
我很荣幸今天能有机会在此与大家共同交流，谈一谈我对绿色奥运的一些想法。
2004年8月，作为中国的青年代表，我参加了雅典奥运青年营活动。本次雅典之旅着实让我看到了许多、也学到了许多。
在雅典，除了陶醉于其悠久的历史和深厚的人文，我更多地有感于当地人的环境意识，震撼于他们对环保的热忱。
雅典的街道尽管少了大都市的喧嚣，但十分整洁，路面上没有任何废物。此外，在雅典我很少见到保洁人员，这对我触动很大。因为这现象所体现的是一种素质，一种作为市民的对于环境的责任感。可见，在雅典，环境的保洁已然不仅是政府行为，而真正成为了每一个雅典人的习惯。
一次我们外出参观，见一位老妇人吃力地弯腰捡起一张被风吹到脚下的报纸，并将其投入垃圾箱。当我上前询问这样做有何理由时，老人的回答是："为什么不呢？"这句话让我回味至今，这情景也让我感触良多。正如观滴水可识江海，这一平凡邂逅所体现出的环境意识乃至民族精神着实引人深思。
在我们的青年营活动中始终贯穿着一系列关于环保的教育活动。活动中，所有的营员以小组为单位，就不同层面的环境问题展开讨论，寻求解决办法，并最终达成共识。活动中还不时安排有当地环境组织官员的演讲和孩子们的图画作品展。活动结束时我们每人还提出了一份关于实施可持续发展的建议和措施，并在营员中展开了交流。这一系列活动让我受益匪浅。
由此，我想到了北京，想到了2008。
"绿色奥运"是北京举办2008年奥运会的三大理念之一。其主要内涵是在可持续发展思想的指导下筹备和举办奥运会，提高首都环境质量。
放眼今天的北京，沙尘天气已是罕见，绿地面积也在逐年增加。不可否认，这些变化是所有北京人共同努力的结果。它也说明通过申办和筹备奥运，北京人的环境意识已大大增强。然而较之于一些国家，我们还有差距。
我认为作为新时代的中学生，我们应更广泛、更深入地参加到保护环境和实施可持续发展的绿色行动中。诚然，环保要从点滴做起，但在我看来仅停留在不使用一次性筷子、捡拾废弃物的层面是不够的。作为实现绿色奥运生力军，我们应更客观、更深入地对当今的环境问题有所了解，并以全球化及可持续发展的角度认识环境问题及其对我国发展的阻碍和对人类生存的危害，从而真正唤起我们的主人意识和保护环境的热情。而这则需要生态教育的进一步深化和更多实践活动的开展。我坚信，通过我们的共同努力，绿色将不再遥远。
此刻，我有一个梦想。
我梦想有一天，地球将没有污染；
我梦想有一天，人类、自然能和谐共处；
我梦想有一天，蓝天碧水能常伴左右；
我梦想有一天，绿色将成为永恒。

i am very proud of living in beijing, the capital of china. every chinese is excited about the result that beijing has succeeded in bidding the 2008 olympics. in 2008, athletes from all over the world will come to beijing. how will be beijing like at that time? let me describe it for you------the environment of beijing will be greatly improved then. green trees will be standing along the roads and streets. flowers will be blossoming on the partition area of the roads. birds will be swimming happily in the green river. all the beautiful scenery will be more than the eye could take in.
the "green olympics" is one of the major themes of 2008 olympics. nowadays, environmental issue is becoming more and more serious, so environment protection is of great urgency. every one of us should contribute to this great task.
i am one of the members of "roots and shoots" group in wen hui middle school. "roots and shoots" is a program about environment and humanitarianism education opened to the youth of all over the world sponsored by jane goodall's research committee. to welcome the 2008 olympics, our group organized lots of activities on environment protection. in this april, we took part in an activity named "cartridges for dragon recycling", which is jointly sponsored by "roots and shoots", "friends of nature" and hp company. the retrieve plan of consume materials aims to decrease the impact of rubbish bury by means of filling or covering to environment by providing simple and environmental protected method to the customers for used printing ink boxes retrieve.just like doctor jane goodall said:" every individual matters; every individual has role to play; every individual makes a difference. i'll try my best to promote this concept to people around me. i believe that every one of us should start at some trivial matters around us and act from oneself to protect our environment, returning the clear sky and green water to beijing. i'm confident when foreign friends come to beijing for olympics in 2008, they will heartily praise:" beijing is so beautiful!"

我很自豪，因为我生活在中国的首都--北京。北京申办下了2008年的奥运会，每一个中国人都激动不已。到2008年，世界各地的运动员都要来到中国北京，北京会是什么样子呢？让我来描绘一下吧：北京的环境将会有很大的改善，道路两旁种满了绿树，隔离带上开满了鲜花，鸟儿飞翔在蓝蓝的天空上，鱼儿畅游在清清的河水中。景色将会美不胜收。
绿色奥运是我们承办的奥运会的主题之一。如今，环境问题已经愈发严峻，保护环境刻不容缓。我们每一个人都应为此贡献出自己的一份力量。
我是文汇中学"根与芽"小组的一名成员。"根与芽"是珍妮·古道尔研究会面向全球青年关于环境与人道主义教育的项目。为了迎接奥运，我们"根与芽"小组组织了很多有关保护环境的活动。就在4月份，我们参加了一个"循环巨龙：耗材回收"的活动。这个活动是由地球村、根与芽、自然之友和惠普公司联手打造的。耗材回收计划是为了减少堆填和掩埋垃圾对环境带来的影响，为用户提供简单并环保的方法回收用过的打印机墨盒及墨粉盒。
这个活动在同学中的反响很大，因为它与我们息息相关。全校同学都积极参与，大家了解到：耗材如果被弃置在环境中或掩埋，它很难降解，有的还会对环境造成污染。事实上其中的许多成分都可以再回收利用，如：塑料、调色剂、泡沫塑料、海绵、碳粉以及各种金属等等，这些原料加工以后又可以制成新的产品，如：e-木、再循环的塑料、公园长凳子、文具等等。通过耗材回收，可以减少被堆填或掩埋的耗材，从而减少对环境的污染。短暂的一个月内，我和同学们就收集了100多个墨盒。没有使用耗材的同学也都在积极做着宣传工作。可见保护环境的理念已经深入到同学们的心中，每个人都在为保护环境，举办一届绿色奥运尽着自己的一份力量。
正如珍妮·古道尔博士所说："每一个人都很重要；每一个人都能发挥作用；每一个人都能带来变化。"我还要尽我的力量向身边的人宣传这些理念。我认为每一个人要从身边的小事做起，从自己做起，保护环境，还北京一片绿水蓝天。当2008年奥运会外国友人来到北京的时候，一定会由衷地赞叹："北京真美呀！"

celebration of green nature
good morning, everybody!
let's start with the very simple question: do you know the tree coverage rate of beijing? well, the recent numerical value is 49.9%. it sounds much, but is there simply one tree that was planted by you? if there is, let's say you're really great. but if not believe me you are not alone cuz it's rather difficult for us students to get involved in such activities. well, i think now we all realize that all that we've done for the green is just about claiming or declaring, painting or advertising. however what i'm fully convinced is that someday ten years ago you must have stepped onto the grassland in the early spring and i'm sure that some of you (especially girls) must have unwittingly picked up dandelions by the roadside and gently blew their parachute like seeds into the fragrant breeze. by the time our lives can be counted by decades, what have we done for our mother nature?
before you get lost in speculation, please follow me and try considering some other questions: put up your hands if you have watched the olympic games? (of course you have or else you wouldn't be sitting here) nonetheless how many of you had the experience of sitting in front of the television waiting for the games of the unable people? i think now we can draw the conclusion that we concern the olympic games mostly for entertainment.
have you found out that the linkage between the olympic games and the green environment is that we almost do nothing really helpful to either of them! what now i want to tell you is very realistic i wrote them from the core of my heart so please believe me they are my true feelings.
last summer when i had just finished the high school entrance examination, i came up with the idea of not using air conditioners in that coming summer. then i had an extraordinarily hard time controlling myself and had suffered from having more than one air conditioners in sight yet cannot make use of them. every time i caught sight of them i told myself that i was doing something quite valuable. finally autumn came and to my surprise i had made it! you know how excited i was? i really felt very proud of myself. sounds ridiculous right? however, will all of you here join me to do this next year, will you? i hope so. because i feel deeply upset every time when i see my parents waste a lot of water and i don't know why i'm extremely concerned about the protection of environment and the reservation of natural resources since i was young. my mother was against me on whether to mention her in my speech nevertheless i consider it very common among you and maybe your parents. in the past i didn't dare to ask others to turn off the faucet while not using them because i was afraid of being described as stingy, am i? stinginess is to resources what responsibility is to the society. it's about time we aroused the social awareness of environment protection. doesn't the realization of our green dream and olympic dream both start from that?
because all the beautiful words seem to be so pale and feeble compared with practical actions and i don't like to say sentences like "start right from myself" so let's change it to a more romantic one: the mission of turning the green within our heart and soul into the luxuriantly green scenery out of the window is bound to cross the boundaries between nations, continents and racial groups, from olympia to the great wall and finally fall on our shoulders by the year 2008.
my favorite description of the olympic games is the celebration of mankind. but now i want to propose a small change, which is to be: olympics of mankind, celebration of green nature.

有谁知道现在北京的森林覆盖率是多少？最近的数字是49.9%，听起来很多，可是在千千万万的树木中有没有一株是你贡献的呢？没有的话相信我你并不孤独。因为我们为绿色做的仅限于喊喊口号， 画画板报而已。但是我确定，十年前的某一天，你一定无心地踏入过早春的草坪，天真无暇地在底片上拍下令人至今留恋的风景，我也猜想到你们中的一些人，至少是一部分，一定随手掐断过路边的蒲公英，让它梦幻般的种子飘散在幽香的风里。在我们的生命已经可以用十年来计算的时候，我们为绿色做过什么？
在大家陷入这个思考之前，请再跟着我想这个问题：看过奥运会的请举手。大家都看过否则也不会来到这里，可是有多少人曾为观看残奥会而守在电视机前？很少，因为我们关注奥运会更多的是为了娱乐。你也许会惊讶地发现绿色与奥运就这样被连接起来了，是被我们还几乎什么都没有做这种方式连接起来的。但是我要告诉大家，其实贡献自己的一点力量，真的很容易。
去年夏天，我忽然决定不开空调， 无论多热都不能开，为了看不到的南极的臭氧层和就在心里的自然梦想。于是我开始遭受满眼都是空调却不能享受清凉的煎熬。舒适明明唾手可得，但我却告诉自己，我正在做的事情是非常有价值的。当秋天终于姗姗来迟的时候，我真的感到特别的自豪哎！听起来有些荒谬有些可笑，可是还是挺不容易的吧！我本想号召大家加入我疯狂的举动可是秋天来了天气凉了，我只有这个小小的心愿希望明年大家会这样做，会吗？我希望会，因为每当我看到宿舍的同学甚至家人用水浪费的时候，我都深深感到一种莫名其妙的沮丧，那是一种发自内心的难过.我想这是很普遍变得现象。也许就发生在你和你家人的身上。我曾经不敢告诉陌生人关掉不用的水龙头，因为害怕被说成小气多管闲事，是这样吗？那天晚上我独自走在空无一人得楼道，听到滴滴答答的水声，像是自然的哭泣。于是我战战兢兢地走进黑漆漆的水房，一个个地听取寻找漏水的管道，向开密码锁一样轻轻地转动水龙头直到找到关紧的那一点。我感到发自内心的兴奋，像完成一项重要的使命。我们的绿色之梦，奥林匹克之梦不就是这样开始的吗？这种对资源的小气应该成为整个社会的"大气"。因为所有的豪言壮语在实际行动面前都显得那么软弱那么苍白。就像从我做起的号召听起来平淡而无力一样。我们还是换一个更浪漫一些的说法吧：将心中的绿色变成窗外的葱茏这样美丽的使命，注定将在不远的2008跨越国与国，洲与洲，种族与种族的界限，由奥林匹亚来到中国长城，最终落在你我的肩上。所以从今天开始，我们就要努力。
我最喜欢的一个对奥运的描述是：人类庆典，但是现在我想稍稍把它修改一下，我叫它：人类奥运，绿色庆典。
